ESLC seeks a talented, dynamic individual to support the launch of a new effort supporting the vibrant communities of Maryland’s Eastern Shore and the lands and waters that connect them. Our emerging town program seeks to encourage resource conservation, vibrant local economies, a commitment to place, sustainable neighborhoods and healthy air, water, forests and habitat. The Program Assistant will play a critical role in developing this work. Responsibilities include planning support and coordination for our annual conference; web site, blog, social media and publications support; supporting the Center’s partnership-building and public launch efforts; and engaging with community organizations, partners and universities in support of our community design program.

Qualifications include: strong organizational skills; experience in event planning and coordination to include vendor coordination, mail merge and registration processing; an outgoing personality and strong relationship-building skills; excellent oral, written and graphic communication skills; familiarity with web programming and social media tools; interest in design, planning, zoning and conservation; a love of teamwork and being part of a learning organization is desirable.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. The position will be funded through the public launch of the Center for Vibrant Towns (late March 2011) with the possibility of extension.

The Center for Vibrant Towns is a new initiative of the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, focused on community design, town planning knowledge and community projects in 41.
