2015 Nanticoke River Report Card Now Available!
On Thursday, July 28, 2016, the Nanticoke Watershed Alliance released the 2015 Nanticoke River Report Card, which examines the health of the river and its tributaries during the 2015 calendar year. The report card uses data from the NWA’s Nanticoke Creekwatchers Citizen Water Monitoring Program, along with data from Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge’s Volunteer Monitoring Program and Chesapeake Bay Program data.
In addition to examining trends for the five major indicators (dissolved oxygen, water clarity, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and chlorophyll a), the 2015 Nanticoke River Report Card also reveals results from the Summer 2015 Bacterial Source Tracking project.
The report card also provides information on how we can all improve local water quality and how to get involved with the Nanticoke Watershed Alliance or the Nanticoke Creekwatchers program.
Hard copies of the report card are available in the Nanticoke Watershed Alliance’s Vienna office and at upcoming outreach events, including the Great Eastern Shore Tomato Festival, the Woodland Ferry Festival, and the Nanticoke Jamboree.
