Saturday, March 1 (10:00 AM-12:00 PM) @ Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Hall
315 High St, Seaford, DE 19973
The Nanticoke Watershed Alliance (NWA) will host a “Living Shorelines” workshop on Saturday, March 1, which will kick off “Reclaim Our River: Nanticoke Series,” a series of workshops and events intended to celebrate the Nanticoke River in 2014. The Living Shorelines workshop aims to provide information and resources to homeowners with shoreline property and to explore the benefits, cost of installation and maintenance, and planning required to undertake a living shoreline project.
The Living Shorelines workshop will feature two primary speakers. Beth Wasden, Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator at the NWA, will talk about the Nanticoke River watershed and its characteristics, discuss the key water quality issues, and take a look at local Nanticoke Creekwatchers water quality data. Melanie Tymes, from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, will discuss permitting requirements, showcase small-scale, homeowner-driven living shorelines projects, and delve into the science behind the effectiveness of living shorelines.
Registration is free but required for this event. Visit http://www.eventbrite.com/e/living-shorelines-workshop-tickets-10172900419 to sign up, or contact Beth Wasden at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 443.944.1175.
